Triple J. Ford announced June 9 that it donated the use of a new 2004 Ford Freestar to the Guam Educational & Telecommunications Corp. known as KGTF.

GuamCell Communications Inc. announced June 4 the donation of unlimited use of a canoe to the Marianas Paddle Racers Association. The canoe was used during the Micronesian Outrigger Cup in Saipan.

Guam Cell Communications Inc. announced on May 24 the sponsorship of Topher Baretto the professional watercraft racer.

Pacific Trucking Co. towed the Guam Public Library Bookmobile on May 24 to Matson Navigation Co. offices to begin repair of the bookmobile. The shipping company has committed to maintaining the vehicle for at least a year. First lady Joann G. Camacho spearheaded the effort to raise community support for the Bookmobile. Matson and parent company Alexander and Baldwin announced April 28 shipping services for books to Guam and a $25 000 grant for the project. South Pacific Petroleum Corp. has donated a year’s oil and gasoline to fuel the vehicle.

The Guam Memorial Hospital received a check for $75 000 on May 20 to upgrade the pediatric unit at the hospital. The money was raised through a Procter & Gamble partnership with local retailers. Participating retailers included Kmart Guam Cost-U-Less Pay-Less Markets 7-Day Supermarket American Grocery Onedera Store Cheapest Mart Hills Market New Happy Market Hafa Adai Supermarket and California Mart.

Three units from Andersen Air Force Base – the 36th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron the 36th Maintenance Squadron and the 23rd Expeditionary Bomb Squadron performed clean up from the front gate of Andersen for two-and-a-half miles along Route 3 on May 20.

The U.S. Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5 donated five computers together with keyboards speakers monitors and two laptops to Merizo Elementary School on May 14. The unit’s sister village is Merizo.

The Guam Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants held its 3rd Annual 5K Run/Walk/Wheel on May 15. Proceeds benefited the Guam Girl Scouts and the University of Guam Junior Accountants Society Scholarship.

The Saipan Garment Manufacturers Association announced May 11 the donation of $500 to the San Vicente Elementary School Pack 911 Cub Scouts to help fund the group’s activities.

Anheuser-Busch Inc. announced April 30 the donation approximately 2 000 cases of drinking water to American Red Cross relief efforts in Yap following Typhoon Sudal which struck Yap on April 9.

Triple J Ford announced April 29 donated the use of a new 2004 Ford Explorer to Guam Crimestoppers.

The Rotary Club of Guam donated $2 000 to the Ayuda Foundation on April 22 to aid victims of Typhoon Sudal.
Mobil Oil Guam Inc. made a $5 000 donation to the Ayuda Foundation to aid victims of Typhoon Sudal.

Samson Pretrick consul general of the Federated States of Micronesia and first lady Joann G. Camacho received donations on behalf of Yap State on April 15. Foremost Foods Inc. donated 105 cases of bottled water; and IT&E Overseas Inc. presented a check for $5 000 towards the post-Typhoon Sudal relief effort.

The Marianas Business Journal sponsored the No. 4 hole at the Guam Chamber of Commerce golf tournament at the Alte Guam Golf Resort on May 15.  Phillip Santos senior sales representative at Matson Navigation Co. was one of the winners of a draw for Titleist Golf Balls.  Santos received the prize on May 28 at the Journal offices.  Present were (from left) Regina M. Murphy account executive for the Journal; Santos; and Stephen V. Nygard publisher of the Journal.

The office of the first lady announced April 13 a number of donations to the Typhoon Sudal recovery effort for Yap. These included 100 pallets of water donated by Yudu Trading Corp. five pallets of food from the Salvation Army a 40-foot container of food valued at $25 610 donated by Quality Distributors a 40-foot container and shipping donated by Matson Navigation Co. cases of personal hygiene products donated by Ambros Inc. palettes of Real Fresh Milk and corned beef donated by Dickerson & Quinn and a donation of $500 to the Guam HOPE Foundation for household necessities.
