At a presentation to Palau on July 19 in the courtyard of the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles were (Fom left) Tom Baumann hospital business development director; Andrew B. The Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles arranged donation of an ambulance and 16 tires to Palau following an April visit to the republic. Andrew B. Leeka president and chief executive officer of Good Samaritan coordinated the donation of an ambulance for Palau by American Medical Response medical transportation company and the donation of 16 tires by Michelin Tire Co. The Type-2 ambulance is complete with cabinetry and a stretcher. Leeka received the ambulance and tires on July 19 in preparation for delivery to Palau by the end of August.

Students in the Guam Community College and John F. Kennedy High School advanced nursing assistants course donated on May 10 more than 1 000 magazines collected through a magazine drive to the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority for visitor and patient use.

Organizers of the June 19 Eleventh Annual Tom Picarro Memorial Fun Run a 4.2-mile fun run named for a former president of DFS Saipan donated $795 to the Guma Esperanza Battered Women’s Shelter in Saipan.

LA Painting and Construction Co. staff painted the exterior of the Hagåtña Public Library on July 10. The company is a subcontractor of Chugach Support Services which has been helping to maintain the exterior of the library.

Guam Raceway Park and Cars Plus LLC on July 14 presented three all terrain vehicles to the Department of Corrections.

Bank of Hawaii donated on July 21 $25 000 in support of the 9th Festival of Pacific Arts held in Palau for 10 days from July 22.

Sen. Ray Tenorio presented Nissan Motor Corp. in Guam with a July 23 legislative resolution commending the company for its contributions to the community. These include support of Big Brothers Big Sisters; Sanctuary Inc.; its renovation of the Guam Waterworks Authority’s tank and property in Upper Tumon; and the donation to the Guam Fire Department of a crew cab Nissan Titan pickup truck to the value of $37 800.

The office of Sen. Carmen Fernandez the Purple Ribbon Campaign and the Guam Marriott Resort & Spa on July 26 launched Operation Minahalang a care package drive for Guam-based units deployed overseas and units with personnel from Guam.

Matson Navigation Co. on behalf of the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation presented a check for $500 to the Boy Scouts of America Chamorro District.

The Guam Visitors Bureau announced Aug. 4 it donated a $5 000 grant-in-aid check to assist the Manukai Athletic Club with the marketing and promotion of the 14th International Cocos Lagoon Crossing. The bureau also donated $5 000 to the family of the late Monsignor Oscar Calvo to organize and exhibit the priest’s private collection of pre- and post-war 1940s pictorial records. MBJ
