The Saipan branch of Bank of Guam Donated $25 000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund on Sept. 7 at the branch in Garapan. The donation by GuamCell Communications of $5 000 to the Guam chapter of the American Red Cross was announced Aug. 2. The donation was for the 2004 Family Preparedness Fund campaign.

Soroptomist International of the Marianas donated $500 to Erica’s House on Aug. 10 at Sam Choy’s Restaurant. The donation was to aid Erica’s House in its work for the local community and families.

Soroptomist International of the Marianas donated $200 to the Salvation Army to aid in services to local women. The donation took place Aug. 10 at Sam Choy’s Restaurant.

Atkins Kroll Toyota on Aug. 19 presented $1 200 to Mothers Against Drunk Driving to prepare for the 2004 holiday season sobriety-checkpoint campaign.

Bank of Hawaii and the Tan Holdings Foundation/affiliates on Aug. 27 at the Bank of Hawaii office gave $50 000 to the American Red Cross to assist with Typhoon Chaba relief matching donations of $25 000 each.

Members of the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association and government of Guam agencies donated time and in-kind contributions in July and August to prepare public schools for the 2004 to 2005 academic year through Project ABC. Schools and their sponsor members and agencies were Simon Sanchez High School Sam Choy’s Restaurant the Hotel Nikko Guam and the Guam Police Department; Southern High School Hyatt Regency Guam the Guam Airport Hotel and the Guam Shipyard; George Washington High School the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa the Palace Hotel Guam and the Department of Parks & Recreation; John F. Kennedy High School the Outrigger Guam Resort and the Westin Resort Guam. A telethon for Project ABC on Aug. 9 raised $75 000 including about $5 000 in in-kind donations. Donations included $10 000 from Quality Distributors $5 000 from Foremost Foods $5 000 from Dr. Ricardo Eusebio of Island Surgical Center and $5 000 from the Federation Pangasimanses of Guam.

Bradley Preston of New York cancer survivor had his wish to visit Guam granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the U.S. His older sister is living on the island. Companies who participated in the visit included Baba Corp. which sponsored a Sept. 2 Atlantis Submarine tour meals at Burger King; and a visit to Coco Palm Garden Beach Resort.

At the Garapan branch on Sept. 7 Bank of Guam donated $25 000 to the American Red Cross Northern Mariana Islands disaster relief fund. Shell Marianas donated $10 000 to the disaster relief fund on Sept. 8 at its offices. Pacific Island Club Saipan donated $10 000 to the disaster relief fund. The donation was made at the club.

T.G.I. Friday’s launched the Friday’s Frozen Festival on Sept. 2. $1 from each dessert ordered will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation for three months. Flavored desserts are designed to look like spaghetti ice cream fried egg ice cream ice cream pizza and cup o’ coffee ice cream.

JRN Air Conditioning donated a 9 000 Btu window air conditioner to the physical education department of Agueda Johnston Middle School in Ordot on Aug. 19.

American Music donated an accoustic/electric guitar for the April 24 grand prize raffle held during the Island Girl Power second anniversary open house in Tiyan.

McDonald’s of Guam announced Sept. 10 the donation of school supplies to Chief Brodie Elementary School as part of the Adopt-a-School Supply Program. Supplies included pencils crayons scissors and classroom items.

The Guam Girl Scouts announced on Sept. 21 a list of supporters and donations they had made. The donors are Alexander & Baldwin parent company of Matson Navigation Co.; $500; and St. John’s Alumni Association $1 500.

A number of businesses made donations to the Guam Girl Scouts "Fun with Friends" Day Camp from July 5 to 9. Detry Corp. donated portable toilets at off-site locations; Guam Tropical Dive Station donated snorkeling instruction and life guards; Jenny Craig donated exercise instruction; and Foremost Foods (Guam) gave milk yogurt and ice cream for all participants in the "Strong Bones Strong Girls" program. Family Pacific Clinic conducted a pilot one-day workshop on July 16. Uniquely Me for teens and parents focusing on a number of issues important to teens.
