The Holiday Inn Resort Guam announced Nov. 8 the donation of hotel amenities including combs sewing kits emery boards shaving kits and bath foam to the Guam chapter of the American Red Cross.
PacifiCare Asia Pacific announced Nov. 7 the donation of $100 000 to the University of Guam School of Nursing Social Work and Health Sciences.
Parents as Teachers and the Ayuda Network donated 24 books to the children’s collection at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in Saipan. The books were donated at the library on Oct. 14.
The United Zambales Foundation of Guam donated $1 000 to the Guam chapter of the American Red Cross on Sept. 8 at the chapter office.
DFS Guam and Ernst & Young donated $15 000 to the Guam Visitor Industry Education Council on Sept. 17 at a luncheon meeting of the council at Sam Choy’s Restaurant. The money was raised at the DFS Ernst & Young 5K Run/Walk held on Sept. 11 in Tumon.
Coral Reef Marine Center and Union 76 donated eight trash receptacles to Guahan Napu Inc. for placement at Paseo Park in Hagatna during the 10th International Coastal Cleanup on Sept. 18.
The Palau branch of Bank of Hawaii donated $5 000 on Oct. 22 at a Rotary luncheon at the Penthouse Hotel in Koror for the Rotary Club of Palau’s annual fishing derby on Nov. 20. Sponsors of the derby include Bank of Hawaii Mobil Oil Micronesia Shimbros and Polycarp Enterprises.
Junior Achievement Guam announced on Sept. 22 that the 2004 to 2005 program will be supported by Deloitte & Touche LLP Continental Micronesia Merrill Lynch M.V. Pangilinan Enterprises Andersen Air Force Base Personal Finance Center Naval Activities Guam EMRIK MJM International Matson Navigation Co. and the University of Guam.
The Sight Conservation Committee of the Guam Marianas Lions Club held its 4th Annual White Cane Drive during October to solicit funds for eye examinations and children’s prescription spectacles.
George Washington High School Price Elementary School and Machananao Elementary School on Oct. 7 each received four refurbished computers through the Comps for Kids program established by the office of Sen. Ray Tenorio.
The Agana Hash House Harriers donated $500 to the Ayuda Foundation’s Island Girl Power on Sept. 6. Funds were raised during the Harriers annual Red Dress Run on Sept. 4.
The Outback Steakhouse donated $2 000 to the Ayuda Foundation’s Island Girl Power on Oct. 14 at the restaurant. The sale of food plates at the Thunderbirds Air Show on Sept. 12 raised the funds.
Additional donors to Island Girl Power for the clubhouse include Cheng Yen Enterprises which donated furniture valued at about $1 500; Ace Hardware which donated merchandize to the value of $300 including door locks and light fixtures; and Sunleader which donated a hot and cold water dispenser.
The Rotary Club of Guam on Oct. 14 donated $500 to the Agana Heights Elementary School at the luncheon meeting at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa. The club hosted about 40 5th grade students and school staff at the meeting.
The Father Duenas Memorial School Class of 1985 at the school donated $1 000 on Oct. 15 towards the construction of the Phoenix Center on the school campus.
From Nov. 19 to 21 McDonald’s of Guam will donate a portion from each children’s meal to Ronald McDonald House Charities in Hawaii and Rainbows for All Children in Guam in recognition of World Children’s Day at global McDonald’s restaurants. The restaurant will also sell during that period $1 Give-A-Hand cutouts 100% of the profit of which will be donated to RMHC.
The Salvation Army announced Oct. 25 that the Lighthouse Recovery Center will hold the 8th Annual Thanksgiving Day Feast on Nov. 25 at the main pavilion in the Chamorro Village in Hagåtña. Food donations can be delivered to the center in East Hagatna until Nov. 19.
The Guam Visitors Bureau in October donated 100 “HafavAdai “music CDs to each of the Guam Department of Education’s 37 public schools for use in the Chamorro arts curriculum. MBJ
