Nana Services is scheduled to hold the grand re-opening of the Admiral Nimitz Golf Clubhouse on Feb. 18.

Golf enthusiasts "can expect a brand-new facility with a spectacular view of the golf course and upgraded facilities for both lunch and dinner " Ed Karabinus project manager for Nana Services LLC told the Journal. "We will offer more of a variety on the menu including prime rib which will be served on Fridays and Saturdays " he said.

The grand re-opening festivities will kick off with the golf course’s first annual invitational. The course which is located in Radio Barrigada features an 18-hole championship course that is rated at 72 par.

According to Karabinus the clubhouse was closed down due to extensive damage sustained from recent typhoons. The clubhouse soft re-opened its doors in late 2004 under the new management of Nana Services LLV. Lon Lindsey local Professional Golf Association member is heading up operations as the golf course manager.

The multimillion-dollar clubhouse renovation is one of many projects that Nana Services has worked on since the Navy awarded its contract to the Seattle-headquartered company in October 2004. The contract includes food services for the Navy’s Moral Welfare and Recreation section which is comprised of the Admiral Nimitz Golf Course Sumay Cove Marina Polaris Point Club as well as the management of the Navy’s theatre and bowling alley.

"We are a much more intense management team with more experience and fresher ideas coming in. We are trying to refocus attention on catering making it more predominant " Karabinus said.

He moved to Guam in December from Wichita Falls Texas to manage all of Nana Services local catering projects. He brings with him experience of running the largest officer’s club in the U.S. Army in Frankfurt Germany. In addition Karabinus was the owner and manager of the Al Castell Restaurant and Hotel also in Germany. "Most of the facilities that we are running now were closed down for a while because of a lot of damage by the typhoons " Karabinus said. However despite the damage the facilities have undergone renovation and offer a new feel for patrons.

"At the Top of the Mar we are upgrading our brunches and at the same time trying to take advantage of the view " he said. With local favorite and popular Mongolian BBQ still offered on Tuesday Thursday and Friday evenings Karabinus said Nana is also trying to market the Top of the Mar as a catering destination for events such as weddings christenings and business meetings. "We want to provide more localized catering " he said.

According to Karabinus the Navy’s bowling center and theater re-opened their doors in 2004 and are also being managed by Nana. Karabinus said in general "we hope to provide added service to all of our sailors and to the local population at all of the facilities."

Nana Services is a rapidly expanding organization that provides contracted support services to the federal government throughout the U.S. Prior to taking over the MWR contract in October the facilities were being managed by Global Food Services and Facilities Management who opted not to renew year two of its contract. Prior to that Nana held the contract from Oct. 1 2002 to Sept. 30 2003 before Global took over Oct. 1 2003 to Setp. 30 2004. MBJ
