The front landing gear under the nose collapsed as the plane was taxiing to the terminal.
Emergency slides were deployed by cabin staff and three people suffered injuries. The airport was immediately closed resulting in eight Continental flights diverting to Andersen Air Force Base and other incoming flights diverting to Saipan. After permission was granted by the Federal Aviation Authority and the National Transportation Safety Board the plane was moved from the runway to another part of the airport.
