HAGÅTÑA Guam — In the afternoon of Jan. 20 at the Guam Election Commission Gov. Felix P. Camacho and Sen. Michael W. Cruz chairman of the Committee on Health & Human Services of the 28th Guam Legislature were due to pick up official packages and documents and sign their intent to run for gubernatorial office in November. Cruz is a surgeon by profession and is a decorated soldier of the War in Iraq and commander of the Guam Army National Guard Medical Command.
Members of the media were advised that the governor and Cruz would be speaking after their appearance at the election commission outside the building. Journal sources said word spread quickly to supporters of the pair and the Journal understood that the first roadside wave of the election season was also due be held by Camacho-Cruz supporters at about 4 p.m. — on the ocean side of Marines Corps Drive opposite the GCIC building in Hagatna.
Sources also said several people are being considered for campaign manager. Among the front-runners are Jess Q. Torres executive manager of the Antonio B. Won Pat Guam International Airport. MBJ
