The approximate 6 000 clients of Honda will soon receive a notice advising them that Triple J Motors will be handling parts and service warranty work and repairs and that a new dealership will be announced.
An April 17 letter was sent out advising customers of the change.
Yo Masuda vice president for the export sales division of Honda based in Torrance Calif. signed the letter which said that Triple J would not make Honda or Acura sales.
Masuda wrote that a new sales relationship is in the offing.
"Effective immediately Marks Motor Co. Inc. no longer will represent Honda and Acura as an authorized automobile dealership for sales and service. "¦ We estimate that within the next four months a new dealership representative will be established " Masuda wrote.
Jeff B. Jones executive vice president of Triple J Enterprises Inc. declined to answer questions regarding whether an agreement on sales would follow for Triple J. "I can’t comment on that " he said.
Jones told the Journal that the contract took effect on April 17. "All customers who have currently registered Hondas and Acuras will be notified by mail " he said. "We have parts in stock and are ready to service customers."
Triple J Motors opened its new headquarters and showroom on Marine Corps Drive next to Kmart Guam on April 7. "Honda customers will be handled at our Tamuning location between McDonald’s and Pay-Less " Jones said. "The other facility is big but not that big."
He said Triple J’s agreement is with the American Honda Motor Co. "This is our first relationship with Honda."
Abe Difuntorum controller for Marks Motors told the Journal the company would still accept Hondas and Acuras for parts and service. "If they bring it to our shop it’s business as usual until Mr. Pangilinan [Mark V. Pangilinan Sr.] says otherwise " Difuntorum said Pangilinan was aware of the letter from Honda to customers. However Difuntorum said "If they received the letter and they decide to bring their vehicle to us we’ll accept it."
Marks Motors had announced plans to build a new facility at the site of the former Ben Franklin’s and Continental Airlines office.
Kia appointed Triple J as its Guam dealer on Nov. 16 2004. Triple J Motors in Guam and Saipan is the exclusive dealer for Ford Volvo Mazda Mitsubishi Isuzu Suzuki Subaru Lincoln Mercury Volvo Bluebird and Daedong. Marks Motors (originally Marks Ramblers) opened in 1969.
