After 14 years of doing business on Guam Copy Xpress Photo will open a second store in Dededo located in the American Grocery supermarket. Kevin Yang co-owner of Copy Xpress; told the Journal “We’ll be located on the Marine Corps Drive side of American Grocery.””

He said the company decided to open another location in Dededo because “”People from the northern areas have been approaching us for a long time asking when our services would be available in the north and of course the population base is there. We’ve been looking for a location and American Grocery approached us to rent a portion of their space.””

American Grocery and Copy Xpress wanted to strategically align. “”We wanted to join the market customers in the Dededo area because we have one-hour photo copying Western Union "" all the services that customers need and we draw a lot of traffic. American Grocery will benefit from the customers we draw and we will benefit from the customers they draw “” he said.

The new location will be about 1 000 square feet and will be a full service Copy Xpress. “”It will be like a satellite office for us. It will be a full service branch.”” Although the Dededo branch will be full service major work orders will be executed at the Tamuning branch.

“”We have to continue to expand because the market is really changing.””

The store is scheduled to open late October or early November. “”It all depends on American Grocery. We are actually ready to open but they have to open first in order for us to open “” Yang said.

Preparations to open the Dededo location started in April. Yang did not want to say how much was invested into preparing the new location. The store will have about five to seven people working there and will remain open later than the Tamuning location from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The Tamuning location is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Yang said that the printing industry has grown to include many other services. “”Businesses like ours are like one-stop centers "" where customers can come in and print business cards letterheads envelopes and have any other printing related needs met.””

He said that the services that Copy Xpress provides include specialized media such as construction plans signs and refilling ink and toner cartridges. “”We want to make sure we cover all of the niche markets.””

Copy Xpress first opened in 1993. Kevin and his brother John Yang acquired the business in 2003. In early 2005 the Yangs also acquired 50% of the Saipan printing company Pacific Quick Print. There are no plans to change Pacific Quick Print into a Copy Xpress Kevin Yang said. MBJ
