NAVAL BASE GUAM – While Naval Forces Marianas have not yet announced the news, the Journal has learned that the USS Theodore Roosevelt will stop at Guam from Oct. 30 for a port visit.

In the wake of the recent downturn in tourism numbers, the port visit will provide a welcome boost to Tumon businesses.

Homeported in San Diego, Calif., the Nimitz-class air craft carrier is the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 9. The Roosevelt left San Diego Oct. 6.

According to the 7th fleet, the Roosevelt entered the region on Oct. 23 “to conduct maritime security operations, theater security cooperation, and port visits as part of the U.S. Navy’s ongoing presence in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.” – See the Marianas Business Journal for further details on this story.
