Pay-Less Markets Inc. is warning of shortages, which CEO Katherine R. Calvo said customers can expect in the short term. “It’s been somewhat across the board,” she said. Health care and sanitizing products have been in high demand, she said on May 5. Additionally, she said, “Tyson had some problems … which may force the price of beef up in the next few months.” While the situation is prevalent throughout the island, Calvo said, “We try to find alternatives as much as possible. Customers are shopping in one go to limit their trips, she said. “We’ve seen a nice bump-up in our average transaction size.”
