A new restaurant syndicate will make its island debut soon.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, a fast-food chain specializing in fried chicken fingers, is coming to Micronesia Mall.

Phillip M. Schrage, senior vice president of leasing and group operations for Goodwind Development Corp., which does business as Micronesia Mall, confirmed the food-court location is currently under construction. Raising Cane’s will take over the space Hibachi-San previously occupied.

The specialty chicken restaurant will be operated as a franchise, run by Panda Restaurant Group, which does business as Panda Express. The Panda-Cane’s franchise has locations in Hawaii and Alaska as well.

Cane’s menu, while small-scale, will pack a lot of flavor. Items include chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, a chicken sandwich option, drinks and an original dipping sauce, Cane’s Sauce. It is still unclear if there will be any menu additions geared towards island taste, like many other restaurants on island.

According to Schrage, since the space is still under construction, he is unaware of an opening date and said that it depends on how long it takes to finish renovations. mbj
