The location of the latest Jack in the Box restaurant — a free standing building at the corner of Marine Corps Drive and Jalaguac Way is shown on Dec. 29. The chain originally planned to open the restaurant towards the end of 2021, according to Journal files. M.V. P. Enterprises Inc. owns the property. The building permit was approved on Aug. 24. Donna Yano, vice president of Jack in the Box Hawaii, told the Journal in October that the new location should be completed by early summer 2022. The first Jack in the Box opened in 2014 at the Shell gas station opposite Micronesia Mall, sharing the 5,000 square-foot convenience store building.
