The A. B. Won Pat International Airport Authority board of directors awarded two concession contracts during a special board meeting on Sept. 3.
Swiss travel retailer, Dufry International AG of Avolta Group, was awarded the airport’s retail and master food and beverage concession for a period of 10 years, with the option to extend for five additional years at GIAA’s discretion.
GIAA’s current retail contract with Lotte Duty Free Guam ended on July 20 and will remain at the airport until Dufry International AG takes over.
John M. Quinata, executive director of GIAA, said in a release the new concession contracts would provide innovative improvements to the airport.
“We completed an important step in acquiring a new specialty retail concession and a new master food and beverage concession operator that will bring new ideas and concepts to the Guam International Airport,” he said.
Qualifying concession proposals received before the submission deadline were evaluated based on facility design and capital investment, concepts and theme and merchandise or food and beverage items and marketing plan, experience qualifications and financial capability, management and operations plan, and annual rent and projected sales.
The specialty retail concession contract will go into effect on Dec. 21 at midnight and master food and beverage concession contract commencement will be determined pending negotiations. mbj
