GTA contributed to relief efforts in support of the Mayor’s Council of Guam, donating 60 cases of water and gas cards for fuel to aid Rota’s ongoing recovery.
Donations from GTA and community members including water, bags of rice, instant ramen, butane, and cleaning supplies were boarded by volunteers, including interns from the Mayor’s Council, onto the Mama Loling vessel the morning of July 16 and will be arriving on Rota the same day.
According to Hagat Mayor Kevin Susuico, boat charters offered their time to transport donations from Guam to the Northern Mariana Islands but needed aid for fuel. Susuico shared his gratitude towards GTA’s sponsorship donation for fuel as boat charters continue to assist the Mayor’s Council of Guam in bringing supplies to residents on Rota, who were heavily impacted by Super Typhoon Bavi. “The community is coming out in full support and we’re glad to put this on to help our brothers and sisters in Rota,” he said.
Susuico stated that relief efforts, which started as a flyer put out for one week inviting residents to assist the mayors in supporting Rota, will be extended for another two to three weeks as businesses and residents continue to show increased support for the cause. mbj
