While more details are expected tomorrow – Oct. 17 CHamoru Standard Time – on both the weather and whether airlines will move flights up ahead of the typhoon – with frequent experience of typhoons in the past three years, island properties are already preparing.
Ken Yanagisawa, president of P.H.R. Ken Micronesia Inc., told the Journal that its hotels are fully prepared to accommodate guests who decide to stay, or who are unable to leave the island. PHR has a Distressed Passenger Rate for guests across the hotels in its group who decide to extend their stay, or who are unable to leave.
Also, the properties are prepared to ensure that they can cater for guests for five or 10 days after the storm. PHR hotels include the Hyatt Regency Guam, the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa, The Nikko Hotel, Pacific Islands Club Guam, The Tsubaki Tower, and the RIHGA Royal Laguna Guam Resort.
Alexandria Leddy, assistant marketing director for Dusit properties in Guam, said that the Dusit Thani Guam Resort is currently fully occupied and has closed bookings.
