The U.S. Coast Guard accepted delivery of the 63rd Fast Response Cutter, the USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo, in Key West on June 12 CHamoru Standard time.
The vessel is the fifth FRC to be homeported to Guam. A commissioning ceremony is scheduled for September in New York City, and we anticipate the ship's arrival in Guam is anticipated in late fall, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Micronesia/Sector Guam.
The cutter is named in honor of Jeffrey Palazzo, a New York City firefighter and Coast Guard reservist who made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11, 2001, while responding to the attacks on the World Trade Center.
The Jeffrey Palazzo will join three other FRCs already in Guam: the USCGC Myrtle Hazard, the Oliver Henry, and the Frederick Hatch.
The USCGC Vincent Danz was commissioned in New York City in May and will arrive in Guam later this summer.
