Stores and patrons at Micronesia Mall had to evacuate after a reported bomb threat was called in.
At about 2:54 p.m., the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense were notified of the threat. The Guam Police Department and Guam Fire Department were first on the scene to evacuate the building and assess the situation, according to a GFD press release.
All measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the area, the public and all responders involved. GHS/OCD, in coordination with the GPD and GFD, will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
The situation unfolds as businesses and residents prepare for Thanksgiving festivities as well as Black Friday next week. mbj
