Atkins Kroll Inc. held a Thanksgiving Drive for the Guam Homeless Coalition. Employees donated dry food goods and hygiene supplies.
Run Saipan has teamed with Atkins Kroll Saipan to launch the inaugural Run Saipan Holiday Half Marathon event on Dec. 10. AK Saipan is the event’s sole and presenting sponsor to commemorate the company’s 55h Anniversary in the Marianas.
The Run Saipan Holiday Half Marathon is a point-to-point 21K race from Sugar Dock to Banzai Cliff in Saipan. The event will also incorporate a 5.5K Fun Run in honor of AK’s anniversary. AK will host two stations, one for each race, and a cheering station.
In recognition of its 125th anniversary, Bank of Hawaii planted native trees in Guam through the University of Guam, the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance and the Palau Conservation Society, at a combined cost of $15,202. Trees were planted at the the Ugum restoration site in Inalåhan, along Kilili Beach in Saipan and in Peliliu in Palau. The bank also planted trees in Hawaii.
As a Platinum Sponsor, E-land Group sponsored the Marianas School Pride for $5,000 in Education Tax Credits to Sinapalo Elementary School for placing first in the Elementary School Division in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Quality Distributors donated a total of $30,000 worth of food to include 4,800 cans of Tulip Luncheon Meat and 10,000 pounds of Calrose Rice to the Salvation Army Guam Corp. for its food pantry program.
The Salvation Army’s Guam Corp. is also collection applications for its Toys for Joys program, provided meals for individuals and families for Thanksgiving, and has begun its annual Christmas Kettle Appeal.
Mobil Oil Guam Inc. contributed $1,500 to the Ministry to the Homeless to help support its mission to feed the hungry and homeless.
Hard Rock Cafe Guam is the newest partner for the United Service Organizations Guam. Hard Rock and USO celebrated the announcement on Oct. 29 with military service members and families enjoying USO Halloween Kids Craft, Adult Trivia events, food and more at Hard Rock with discounts offered to attendees.
Through Dec. 30, residents can purchase a special edition “We start with You” commemorative tote bag designed by local artist Austin Domingo from GTA for $10. All proceeds will benefit Harvest House. The fundraiser began Nov. 29.
GTA is also supporting Harvest House’s Christmas Celebration for foster children by providing volunteers and sponsoring various activities.
BankPacific continued its annual tradition of donating food, including a dozen turkeys, to the Ministry to the Homeless event in Hagatna.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Westin Resort Guam launched a “Starbucks Pink Drink” promotion at The Mix to benefit Guam Cancer Care. During October, the hotel donated $2 for every Starbucks Pink Drink purchased, with a total of 766 drinks sold and a total donation of $1,532.
Docomo Pacific Inc. sponsored the 41st Annual Japan Autumn Festival at the Gov. Joseph Flores Beach Park (formerly Ypao Beach Park), donating $3,000 to the Japan Club of Guam.
Habele, a U.S. non-profit serving students and schools in the Federated States of Micronesia, has awarded 54 tuition scholarships in the FSM to private elementary and high schools.
Students from Yap, Chuuk, and Pohnpei, as well as their lagoon and outer islands, will attend 11 different schools in 2022-23, including Xavier High School, Saint Mary’s, Faith Christian Academy and Seventh Day Adventist Schools in Yap, Chuuk and Pohnpei.
Established by former Peace Corps volunteers who lived and taught in the islands, Habele has been granting tuition assistance to Micronesian students since 2006. Funding also comes from civil servants and contractors who spent time in the FSM.
