Public Health, Moylan, Guahan Doula Project to offer free services
No appointment is necessary for a variety of free services for sectors of the population.
The Department of Public Health and Social Services will host a Back-to-School Immunization Outreach on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or while supplies last at the Micronesia Mall (line starting at the entrance next to Denny’s).
The event is for children age 4 to 18 years who are enrolled with Medicaid, MIP or have no insurance. Routine childhood vaccinations will be offered, except for the chickenpox vaccine. TB skin tests will not be offered.
Documents needed are the child’s birth certificate, and child’s current shot record. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or an adult with legal documentation or a parent’s written authorization. The accompanying adult must have a valid photo ID.

Women who are pregnant and would like additional information and support, whether it is needing information during your pregnancy, being able to see a medical professional, or needing support during labor, delivery, or after your baby is born, can attend free outreach sessions about doula care being offered by the Birthworkers of Color Collective and the Bureau of Women’s Affairs in August through the Guahan Doula Project.
A doula, or birthworker, meets with an expectant mother several times during her pregnancy, supports her during labor, delivery, and after the birth of her baby to address any issues she may be facing, and to educate her and her family about pregnancy and childbirth.
The first Guahan Doula Project session is Aug. 16, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mongmong-Toto-Maite Community Center, followed by sessions on Aug. 18 at the Dededo Community Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Aug. 30 at the Mangilao Community Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Office of James C. Moylan, Guam’s delegate to Congress, is hosting a One Stop Resource Event on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Micronesia Mall in the former JP Superstore location.
