As Guam opens and recovers from a global pandemic and a super typhoon, nonprofit and other organizations are doing their part in giving back to the community with new and annual events – a welcome diversion.

Guam has been an attractive destination for Korean travelers for decades, with increasing demand every year. The Korean market growth, like all others, was interrupted in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the tourism industry came to a halt.

New businesses are taking advantage of Guam’s positive reception of fresh offerings.

The island’s newest projects are a steady sign of planned economic growth, but delays have been forced upon them.

Interns with the Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program collected 452 bags of trash on Aug. 2, which is called Day of Service cleanup. The prior weekend, interns also planted over 1,400 trees as part of their tree planting mission at the Mannell Watershed Site in Merizo.
